Cosmetic Veneers Cost: What are Veneers?
A veneer is a thin shell of material which is attached to the exterior of the tooth. A veneer can help repair and protect a broken tooth, and it can improve its appearance. The veneer can help provide your tooth with an even shape, and can reduce gaps between teeth. The biggest advantage to veneers is that they can instantly improve the look of your stained and discolored teeth.
The tooth must be prepared before the veneer can be applied. The enamel on the tooth must be reduced slightly for the veneer to fit properly. If the veneer is too thick it can look artificial, and if it is too thin, it will not give you the results you want. Veneers can modify the shape and alignment of the teeth, which is a plus if you have chipped teeth, or big gaps in between teeth. Veneers can also give you better results compared to bleaching your teeth using chemical whitening agents.
Cosmetic Veneers Cost: What Affects The Cost?
The cost of veneers will depend on the material that the veneer is made out of, and the type of bonding agent that will be used. Another factor is the application of the veneer, in some cases, shaping of the veneer will be required, and this can increase the cost. Also if the bonding process will be a bit more involved, it can drive the cost higher.
If you are getting more than one veneer, then you may be able to get a lower cost per veneer. Many dentists will provide a reduced cost per veneer if you are getting 7 veneers for example.
Normally, it is a set cost per veneer, for example $600 per veneer. So if you were getting 5 veneers, you would expect to pay 5 * $600 = $3,000. But if you speak with your dentist, they may be able to give you a lower price for the 5 veneers, say $550 per veneer. In that case you would only pay 5 * $550 = $2,750.
With all the choices available today, you are sure to get the results you want at the price you want. Keep in mind that old saying though: “you get what you pay for”…even though the composite veneers cost less, they will not last as long as porcelain veneers. The best advice would be to do a bit of research online and get all the facts. So it would be a good idea to get a few quotes from various dentists, you won’t need to sacrifice quality to save yourself some money on the cosmetic veneers cost.
